Before/After School Program

The before and after school program is designed to build competency by focusing on acquiring and using information, communicating with and relating to others (social interaction), problem solving and decision making, understanding oneself and others, learning to learn, and leading self and others. By developing these skills, children learn to live comfortably with others, express their own feelings safely, love life, and welcome new experiences.
If individuals feel capable, they have some control over their lives and feel good about themselves. They will usually be able to cope with whatever demands they meet in life because they see themselves as competent.
The program offers a curriculum that meets the developmental needs of school-age children and young adolescents. The program has written activity plans; balanced daily/weekly activities in terms of indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, individual/group, and planned/self-initiated activities, and fine /gross motor skill; developmentally appropriate activities, materials, and equipment and opportunities for worthwhile play and work with qualified and caring adult.
Transportation services may be offered to schools that are not a part of the Rowan County Bus Transportation route and a transportation fee will be assessed those children who receive transportation services.
